Let's Party - It's my (brother and sisters) birthday.

Yesterday was my brother, Kirby (not pictured here as he celebrated in NYC), and sister, Kim's birthday. Crazy that they are exactly two years apart to the day!  We went to Sissy's Southern Kitchen to celebrate.  Don't plan on eating healthy there, fried chicken and Mac and Cheese is a must  I had fun putting together childish little party favors for everyone (pink for the girls, blue for the boys) and although my nephew had fun with them, I think the adults may have enjoyed them more.

Weekend Open House: The Claridge #15B

This condo holds a very special place in my heart!  It is actually a bittersweet feeling to list it.  It has been passed through my family starting with my sister, Kim, to me, then to my brother, Kirby.  It is now time to say goodbye and sell it!  It goes in MLS next week, but I thought it would be fun to spread the word in advance and see if we get any nibbles.

It was purchased as a two bedroom condo and my sister gave it her magic touch with renovations that turned the 2nd bedroom into a formal library and a cozy media room.

Just looking at this sign makes me happy and brings back good memories.  The Claridge has an incredible reputation for its impeccable service and tip top security.

I loved having all these drawers and this counter space in the dressing room for accessories.  It is adjacent to "her closet" and a "his closet" is right around the corner.  Lack of closet space is certainly not an issue here.

This is the "her" side of the master bathroom.  I loved having the sit down vanity to do makeup every morning.

The terrace is accessible from the breakfast room and the living area.  It was always fun to sit out here for dinner on beautiful nights or reading the paper with a coffee while watching the sun rise.

This is the view from the terrace over Turtle Creek.

This is the entry foyer.  The front door would actually be on the right of this photo.  There is a powder bath to the right of the console table and of course the living room is on the right.

This is the living room and the formal dinning area.

This photo was taken from the entrance of the kitchen, basically standing in the formal dining room.  the entry way is on the left side and as you walk down the hallway on the far end of the photo you find the media room, library, and master bedroom.

Here is another angle.  The kitchen is through the door you see on the back corner.

Here is the media room.  We had a great cozy sofa under the two lights and a huge TV on the wall across from it.

Here is the library.  This is where I did all of my studying.  A computer desk and work space is hidden behind the cabinets you see on the right.

Here is the kitchen- I can assure you knowing the cooking skills in my family that the appliances were not used very often!  There was room for a large breakfast table on the far end, and the fridge and oven were behind the photographer in this photo.  A large butlers pantry area would be to his left, and a massive laundry room behind him.

Master Bedroom

The list price in MLS will be $630,000 for sale and $4,850/month for rent.

I'm back to the real world and it does feel pretty good! Here are some photos from our stop in Corsica, France that I thought I should share.  It was so beautiful.  This little port town at the edge of the cliff was really charming.

Ciao from Florence

Troy and I arrived in Florence yesterday and are having a fabulous time!  We checked into the JK Place  Hotel - it is so charming and the staff are unbelievable friendly.  Little did we know before planning this trip that August 15th is a religious holiday and therefore all of the banks are closed, as well as all the museums, shops, and many of the restaurants. So, we had a relaxing day strolling around the city and taking in some scenery.

We enjoyed the fresh roses that greeted us in our hotel room...
Arno River...

This was one of the best parts of the day!  Gelato...
This was one of the few shots that was open - really cute things.  I found a fun sweater dress for Fall.

This was some of the most delicious pizza I have ever had!

2012 Dallas Symphony Orchestra Gala

Troy and I are very excited to be apart of the host committee for the 2012 Dallas Symphony Orchestra AT&T Galas After Party on September 8, 2012, exactly one month from today!
We have had a wonderful time at this event year after year!  Attending the gala and after party is a great opportunity to support the Dallas Symphony and have a fun night out.

Before and After: Midway Hollow Gem!

One of my favorite parts of my job is helping my friends find their perfect home, as well as making new friends in the process.  So, I was thrilled when my great friends Becky and Kyle Bowen called and said they were moving back to Dallas and wanted me to help them find their first Texas home!

After a few months of searching, we finally found "the one".  When we walked into this house they said that they had a vision for it, and it sure was a spectacular one!  Here are some before and after photos...

This is what they did to the kitchen...

This is what it looked like before....

Redoing the shelves, swapping the brick fireplace mantle our for carrera marble, and opening up the wall between the living and dinning area made this living area spacious and so special.  I also love how they made a special spot for the flat screen.

They redid the hardwood floors throughout the house which made a big difference in their master bedroom - a fresh coat of paint and some pretty new furniture also changed the whole feel of this room.
Here is what it looked like in the MLS Photos...

They completely redid this bathroom and turned it into an animating place to get ready for the day.  oops, thats my reflection in the mirror standing in the shower to get this photo...

I love the new floor they put into the hallway bathroom...

When they purchased the house the laundry room was located in the garage.  They found room to move the laundry room inside the house to a hallway closet by relocating the water heater to the attic...
adding chandelier made this outdoor dinning space fun!
cleaning up the landscaping by the pool also made vast improvements...

Thanks to the Bowen family for letting me include them and their beautiful new home on this post!

Becky and Kyle had wonderful ideas for making this home exactly the way they wanted it.  They give a great deal of credit to Penny Sanders, owner of Sanders Studio, for helping to carry the plan out.

Weekend Getaway: Santa Barbara

Troy and I headed to meet friends in Santa Barbara over the weekend to get a little break from the Dallas heat!  We had so much fun and I thought I'd share some snapshots I took over the weekend...
Our weekend started with a wine picnic on the beach with our friends Brittany and Michael.

This was our view, and occasionally a sea lion would pop its head up to say hello.

We stayed at Bacara the first night and I found a few things around the resort so charming!
I loved the tiles on the stairs at Bacara
I thought this was a clever way to make an old fountain beautiful again.
The next day we met up with our friends Court and Kameron and went wine tasting at vineyards around Santa Barbara.
Sanford Winery

On our drive we came across this amazing marigold field...

Some of my favorite dinner spots were Lucky's in Montecito and Plow and Angel Restaurant at The San Yisdrio Ranch in Santa Barabara.

Must eat here in Montecito
